154 pound prospect Frank Galarza (12-0-2, 8 KO’s) last fought in January when he made quick work of John Thompson knocking the then undefeated fighter out within two rounds of their scheduled eight round bout. Galarza hasn’t taken much rest since then and has been training in hopes to return to the ring within the next couple months.

“Right now we are looking to see if we can get fight in March, April you know what I’m saying,” said Galarza. “We are back in training. We are putting in the work again. (There’s) like no days off over there.”

The year is young but Galarza plans on staying busy just like last year when he fought four times. If all goes well he would like to fight for a title next year and the opponent doesn’t matter.

“Hopefully (I’ll) stay busy. Hopefully next year I will be coming into a title shot. We in there, we ready to go with anyone. We don’t care. We don’t back down. We here to put in that work. Whoever wants it man.”

Galarza has been on quite a few Golden Boy cards lately but he is not a Golden Boy fighter. A signing with DiBella Entertainment is close to being finalized to co-promote  Galarza alongside New Legends Boxing.

“There is some talk in there but right now, currently I think we co-promote with DiBella so we are trying to finalize everything with that and when that comes through we will pretty much be DiBella’s fighters with New Legends Boxing so that’s what’s going on right now.”

Once Galarza signs with DiBella he should get quite a few more opportunities but one major opportunity that lies with SMS Promotions (which whom DiBella works with quite often) is a shot at James Kirkland who has recently brought himself in the picture of top fighters with his recent victory of Glen Tapia and Galarza would welcome that bout should the opportunity arise.

“He is a strong opponent. First of all he is not an opponent he is a strong fighter in general. Like I said when the time is right, when we push it, when we get out there we can definitely call him out as well.”
