download (2)Three-division champion Roman Gonzalez (40-0 KO’s 34) is set to face Rocky Fuentes (35-7 KO’s 20) on November 22 in Japan.

Roman Gonzalez is coming off a 9th round TKO victory over Akira Yaegashi which has made him the second Nicaraguan fighter to win titles in three divisions; The first being his late mentor Alexis Arguello.

Gonzalez also referred to as “Chocolatito” is currently the number nine pound for pound best fighter in the world according to Ring Magazine. He had aspirations of fighting Juan Francisco Estrada to unify all the belts in the flyweight division, but it’s apparent that bout will not come into fruition until 2015.

Gonzalez started training on Monday in his gym “Roger Deshon” in Managua, Nicaragua. He is not taking Fuentes lightly.

In a recent interview with elnuevodiario.com he stated, “Fuentes is a very good rugged strong fighter. He has his strengths and I won’t take him lightly. Every fighter is dangerous and in this training camp I look forward to improve on my defensive and offensive arsenals. In my last bout I took too many punches for my liking.”

“I worked hard to earn my belt, and God willing I will be able to keep my title.”
