Floyd Mayweather made history earlier this year when he took on Connor McGregor that saw boxing’s best take on the UFC’s best. From long before it was ever announced it was a circus. Once the fight was announced and the press tour kicked off some comments were made that many fans had brushed off instantly. Those comments that I’m referring to were made by Mayweather stating that he would beat McGregor in a boxing ring or in an octagon. Octagon, yeah right…that’s what many of us thought until recently.

Within the last few days news surfaced that negotiations were underway for Mayweather to participate in the UFC in a deal that could see him make over a billion dollars. A claim that Mayweather recently spoke on in which neither he denied nor confirmed totally. If the money is there many could see him doing it but being great at boxing does not guarantee being great at mixed martial arts as stated by Tony Bellew.

‘If Floyd or Manny (Pacquiao) get into a cage and compete with any MMA guy I’ll be truly amazed! I can’t stress to people how different these sports are! It’s like saying rugby and football are similar because there both played with a ball! Just stick to what you know eh,” stated Bellew via Twitter.
