downloadGennady Golovkin (31-0, 28 KOs) has proven time and time again, he is a force to reckon with in the middleweight division. His 90% knockout ratio is currently the highest in middleweight history, and Golovkin has yet to be seriously challenged in his professional career. In an interview with Dontae’s Boxing Nation, Abel Sanchez stated, “At 160 pounds, nobody is going 12 rounds with Golovkin and I’ve said that in the past.”

The two opponents who are in high demand for a mega fight in the middleweight division against Golovkin are Miguel Cotto and Canelo Alvarez. When Sanchez was asked how these two opponents would fare against his fighter in the ring he explained, “Cotto doesn’t go five rounds, and Canelo doesn’t go eight.”

Sanchez believes the real test for Golovkin lies in the super middleweight division against a fighter such as Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. His reasoning was the fact that Chavez Jr. would be able to withstand Golovkin’s offensive onslaught. Sanchez stated, “I’ve always said that Chavez Jr. would be a good fight for Golovkin, because Chavez will be able to take everything that Gennady would deliver and still be standing there. He has a great chin, and he’s going to be about 190 pounds by the time he steps into the ring, so he would be a guy that would be able to take everything Gennady threw at him. That would be the test.” Sanchez also mentioned Carl Froch would be a test as well because just like Chavez Jr., he is a very durable fighter.
