Adonis Stevenson is currently 35 years old, which is considered old or past a fighter’s prime in boxing standards. He had a checkered past, with a stint in prison when he was younger, and was able to put it behind him and he matured.  His professional career began just a week after his 29th birthday, a very late start, but in an era where older fighters are competing and beating the odds and their opponents, Stevenson is at the top of his game.

Stevenson is one of the world’s top rated super middleweight fighters and will be moving up in weight to take on Chad Dawson on June 8th for Dawson’s WBC Title, but there is so much more at stake than just a title. This is a career defining fight for Stevenson, in which he will prove his worth to the boxing community and to the world, but it will be no easy task. Dawson has only lost twice as a professional. His first loss was to Stevenson’s fellow Haitian/Canadian counterpart Jean Pascal. He also suffered a lopsided beat down by Andre Ward last September.

Stevenson is one of Canada’s top fighters and should he come away from the Dawson fight with a victory, he could end up facing the winner of Jean Pascal and Lucian Bute to find out who is Canada’s top fighter.
