According to multiple sources, Al Haymon is expected to unveil some more news today. Just one week after announcing that he was bringing boxing to NBC primetime, Haymon has scheduled an invite-only press conference to announce more boxing from his Premier Championship Boxing Series will be airing on Spike TV. The press conference is set to take place in Santa Monica, California today.

Expected to be announced, and you heard it here on ThaBoxingVoice first, is the main event between Andre Berto and Josesito Lopez. On paper, Berto (29-3, 22KO’s) vs. Lopez (33-6, 19KO’s) has the looks of a great welterweight matchup. The co-main will pit former welterweight title holder Shawn Porter making his return after his first loss to Kell Brook against Roberto GarciJosesito+Lopez+Victor+Ortiz+v+Josesito+Lopez+Y5V_K0hTFtJla. Those fights will take place on March 13th, with the Stub Hub Center in Carson, California as the likely venue.

The Spike TV cards will air once a month on Friday night competing directly with ESPN2’s Friday Night Fights and at some times ShoBox. Haymon, who has substantial financial support from investors, is once again buying airtime and is shaping the boxing world with each groundbreaking announcement.

While many people remain skeptical about the model and wondering what this news means for the sport of boxing. Haymon will premier his first show March 8th on NBC featuring Keith Thurman vs. Robert Guererro and co-main event, Adrien Broner vs.. John Molina. His second NBC date will be April 11th when Danny Garcia challenges Lamont Peterson and perhaps Andy Lee taking on Peter Quillin in Brooklyn, NY. Sandwich the Spike TV card between and you can understand why boxing fans are giving Haymon two thumbs up.
