Former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. has only one fight left with his current promoter, Top Rank Promotions which whom he may be looking to distance himself from. Negotiations were ongoing for a PPV bout between Chavez and Gennady Golovkin  but Chavez backed away from those negotiations because he did not want to sign a contract extension with Top Rank. Since then negotiations have resumed but the question remains, ”will Chavez remain with Top Rank?”

In steps one of the, if not the most powerful person in boxing, Al Haymon. Haymon has reportedly stepped forward and offered Chavez a multi-year contract which will make the Mexican fighter a reported $47 million.

It appears to be an offer that can’t be refused but we have yet to see how Top Rank owner Bob Arum will counter the offer.
