Alex Ariza, a renowned strength and conditioning coach was a member of Team Pacquiao for many years, but more recently has spent most of his time in the Mayweather gym. As negotiation news has spilled across media outlets, it seems as though there may be another hurdle to cross. Pacquiao was in Los Angeles for the “Manny the Movie” premiere last evening which brought out many in the boxing world, including Alex Ariza.Ariza said last evening he expects Mayweather to fight on May 2nd but doesn’t expect it to be Manny Pacquiao.

“It’s not going to happen.  Ariza told Philippine media. “Hopefully eventually Bob Arum will blow away in the wind or whatever. As soon as we get rid of him, we can get it on.”

Ariza has had notable differences with Bob Arum, Freddie Roach, and Michael Koncz, all key players on Team Pacquiao, so perhaps his disposition comes as no surprise. Amongst reports of Canelo Alvarez fighting James Kirkland and multiple outlets reporting a possible rematch between Mayweather and Miguel Cotto, the Mayweather-Pacquiao bout seems almost completely off the table for Cinco de Mayo weekend.
