Alfredo Angulo Must Make It A Dog Fight

Mexico’s brawler and power puncher Alfredo “Perro” Angulo (22-2, 18 KOs) has yet again proven to fight fans he wants to be the best in his division by continuously facing the best opponents available. Angulo has won his last two fights by KO since he suffered a stoppage loss to James Kirkland in 2011. His last fight, against Jorge Silva, didn’t go as planned as the “Perro” might have bit off more then he chew at the time.

What was supposed to be another tune up/comeback fight for Angulo to get acclimated to new trainer Virgil Hunter, ended up being a all out war with a guy that shouldn’t have been so tough for Angulo. This is a very difficult matchup for Angulo. We know that Lara is not going to stand in front of him. He is a Cuban southpaw and is going to do what Cubans do best, which is box. Lara is at his best when he is in counterpunching mode, which we would have to figure he would be for this fight as Angulo will be the one to make the fight allowing the counter puncher to have more opportunity to land “This is my third fight after my time off and conditioning-wise I’m feeling like my old self, feeling like I used to feel. There’s no doubt I’ll be in better condition than I was for my last two fights. There was just too much time off. Now, I’m in a rhythm,” said Angulo.

The stakes are high in this fight as the fighters can basically see and follow the money trail to a massive mega fight show down with division cash cow, Saul Canelo Alvarez. Angulo has been here before with a boxer-puncher style in which he came up short against Kermit Cintron. Though the rumor is Angulo was sick. Be that as it may, he showed he could be out-boxed. Relentless is best used when describing “Perro” and more than likely will be a huge factor in the fight. It’s key not to allow Lara to stay relaxed the pressure must be applied. “He may think he’s just going to box, but he’s going to fight,” added Angulo.

The pre-immigration incarceration Angulo must show up to fight on Saturday, June 8.  If that Angulo shows up, he will get the crowd at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif.,   behind him to add fuel to his fire. That Angulo will mount a vicious body attack to slow down the craftier south paw.”It’s going to be a very good fight, the bull versus the matador. I have a lot of respect for Lara. He’s a really good fighter and he wants to show he’s the best, but he’s going to have to come out and fight,” fired Angulo.
