Sadam AliWhen you think about fighters who have been making a name for themselves over the past year, welterweight Sadam ‘World Kid’ Ali comes to mind. After years of promoting himself, he signed a deal with Golden Boy Promotions. He was built on ShoExtreme type undercards facing gatekeepers like Jeremy Bryan.

Then he took a step up last year on the Sergey Kovalev-Bernard Hopkins undercard when he fought Luis Carlos Abregu. He passed that test.

Then this past April he took on another test and aced it against Francisco Santana on the undercard of Wladimir Klitschko-Bryant Jennings, which was a highly televised event on HBO. With that victory, he is slowly creeping up the rankings and getting closer to a world title shot.

Ali was on hand at the Barclays Center for the Amir Khan-Chris Algieri fight and told ThaBoxingVoice.com that he is eyeing a return date in the late summer or early fall.

“It’s good to see fights continue to happen here in Brooklyn in my backyard,” Ali told ThaBoxingVoice.com “As for me I should be fighting sometime in August or September, nothings finalized yet, but that will be the timeframe as to when I’m coming back.”

But a world title shot might come soon against the winner of the fight between Timothy Bradley and Jessie Vargas. Both men fight on June 27th for the vacant WBO Welterweight title.

“They were talking about (Tim) Bradley and (Jessie) Vargas, the winner of that. Nothings 100 percent until it happen, for me I’ll be ready for whoever and when it happens. Timothy Bradley is a great fighter, and obviously it’d be a pleasure to fight him I think it would be a great fight.”

As far as who he picks to win, “I can’t tell you, it’s a good fight that I’m looking forward to seeing. It doesn’t matter, whoever comes out the winner is who I want.”
