Amir KhanAmir Khan has had mega fights with the likes of Floyd Mayweather, Manny Pacquiao, and even Miguel Cotto mentioned in within the same circles as him. But tonight he takes on Chris Algieri. While Algieri might not be on the level of the 3 mentioned financially and skill wise, he has had two good victories over the likes of Emmanuel Taylor and Ruslan Provodnikov. In those fights, Algieri used his boxing skill to outpoint both fighters. Khan feels tonight will be different and feels Algieri will be coming to fight and not box.

“I really think Chris Algieri is going to come to fight,” Khan told ThaBoxingVoice.com. “I think it will be the biggest mistake he makes. Because if he comes to fight, I’m not going to have to look for him. He’s going to come and look for me, so if he does that he’ll be falling on all my shots.”

Khan has good reason to believe that as Algieri’s trainer, John David Jackson told our Nestor Gibbs, that Chris will be displaying more power tonight and sitting on his shots. But Khan says that may be good in theory but it’s a lot harder to do when in the ring.

“A lot of fighters when they fight me, they all think that it’s going be easy,” Khan said. “But when they feel the power and the speed, they don’t see that shots that are hitting them and it’s harder. Obviously you can see in my last few performances under Virgil Hunter that I’ve become a better boxer.”

Khan feels no matter what Algieri does, he will be better at every facet.

“In the last fight against Alexander, who’s a world class opponent and a three-time world champion, I out boxed him and I beat him. He had no answers for anything, and I really think if Chris wants to make it a boxing match, I’ll be there and I’ll beat him at his own game. If he wants to fight, I’ll be there too.”
