demetrius-andradeAccording to World Boxing Organization President Paco Varcacel, there is another unexpected twist in the soap opera surrounding the WBO middleweight title.

After Peter Quillin dropped the title, WBO Jr. middleweight title-holder Demetrius Andrade requested the WBO to face Matt Korobov for the middleweight title. The WBO immediately approved his request.

However, we learned today that Demetrius Andrade has elected to stay in the 154-pound division and has passed on the opportunity to face Matt Korobov for the WBO middleweight title. An opportunity he requested himself. Coincidentally (or not), Demetrius Andrade is managed by the same manager as Peter Quillin, Al Haymon.

“Andrade will defend the WBO 154-pound title. And it looks like Korobov-Saunders will take place in England for the vacant 160-pound title.” Paco Varcacel stated to www.Boxingscene.com today.

Billy Joe Saunders, ranked number two at middleweight by the WBO, was expected to face Chris Eubank jr. on the undercard of Fury-Chisora II on November 29. The fight between Matt Korobov and Billy Joe Saunders is likely going to take place on that same card.
