In the aftermath of “The One”, Alfredo Angulo (22-2) is still waiting on an opponent. In the past his name has been tossed around to possibly fight Canelo. When asked what he now thinks of Canelo and his fight with Mayweather, Angulo stated, “Canelo is a good fighter and needs more experience,” and he thinks, “Floyd is the best fighter in the world.”  As to what he thinks about getting the opportunity to fight Canelo he said, “I don’t care I’ll fight anybody”, and “I’m not scared of anybody.”

On June 8th of this year Alfredo Angulo entered the ring against Erislandy Lara. The main event of the evening was Marcos Maidana vs. Josesito Lopez. Many thought that the main event would be clear cut fight of the night. In what turned out to be arguably the fight of the night Angulo and Lara went back and forth for 10 close rounds. For the first time in his career Lara was dropped by Angulo in rounds four and nine. In the tenth Lara the South-Paw, hit Angulo with a straight left hand, swelling Angulo’s left eye. Late in the round he turned his back and start walking to his corner, causing the referee to stop the fight. After such a tough loss and a bad eye injury, Angulo says “my eye is good” and he’s ready to get back in the ring.

The Junior Middleweight division is packed with talent.  Recently on the undercard of “The One”, the IBF Junior Middleweight title changed hands when Carlos Molina defeated Ishe Smith.  Should he get an opportunity to fight Molina he said, “I have a lot of respect for Molina, “ and he thinks that Molina won his controversial draw with Erislandy Lara back in ‘11. Since his fight in June with Lara, Angulo stated that he wouldn’t mind re-matching him. He also said that the two of them have gone back and forth on twitter as well ,“Lara talks a lot of shit on the internet,” he continued by saying he has a lot of respect for Lara but, “I don’t have respect for people that are talking shit.”
