manny-pacquiao-poses-with-001After Manny Pacquiao’s 12 round destruction of Chris Algieri, the immediate attention of the boxing world once again turned to the biggest prize fight to make in boxing, Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao.

“The people deserve that fight,” Pacquiao said to the media when asked about a Mayweather fight.

The talk of this week was more about a possible Mayweather-Pacquiao fight then the actual fight between Pacquiao and Algieri. Reason being the other side of the equation, Showtime/CBS stated that they want that fight and even vouched for Mayweather stating that he himself wants the fight.

Pacquiao told the media that he hopes it is true.

“I think it’s time [for Mayweather] to step up and say yes. People can prepare for early next year,” stated Pacquiao. “It’s been a long time that I want that fight but I’m just the one talking about that fight. The other camp, they’re always denying to talk about that fight. So better to say nothing.”

When asked about other possible opponents, Arum was mum and the only name he would discuss was indeed Mayweather.

“I think that fight should happen. I think the boxing fans deserve that fight. If boxing is to be considered a major sport, that fight has to happen,” said Arum. “All the nonsense has to cease, everybody should be working together to make that fight happen.”

The onus is on the other side according to Arum who feels wants the fight.

“I trust Les Moonves. For the head of CBS to spend so much time on something would be counter-productive if it was bulls**t,” said Arum.
