Cotto-vs-AlvarezWith all the Mayweather-Pacquiao news going around, let’s not let us forget that there is a potential super fight that might take place on May 2nd between Puerto Rican Superstar Miguel Cotto and Mexico’s growing star Canelo Alvarez.

Alvarez has made the jump to HBO therefore making this fight possible, telling his promoter Oscar De La Hoya that he wanted to fight on the Mexican boxing dates typically owned by Floyd Mayweather.

However Mayweather a stalwart of the Las Vegas boxing scene to Cotto-Canelo would not likely be in Las Vegas that weekend if Mayweather has a say.

Bob Arum who works closely with Miguel Cotto is exploring other avenues, like a fight in Texas in Cowboys Stadium.

Nothing is for certain but we think the negotiations are going the right way with all parties,” Arum told ESPNDEPORTES.COM. “I believe Cowboys Stadium would be ideal for a number of reasons, capacity being one of them.”

Cowboys Stadium has the capacity to hold over 100,000 fans and with two of boxing’s biggest names, a 16,000 arena might not be the best option for the mega fight.

“I believe a stadium with the capacity is needed and it could bring that type of card to new levels in the history books.”

While nothing is set in stone, Arum hopes to bring that fight to Dallas where there are no state taxes as well.

“I hope we can bring that fight to Dallas, we’ve always had good experiences there when we took Manny Pacquiao there twice.”
