On the flip side, Maidana is hungry and Robert Garcia did a very nice job in training him, I have [watched] his game turn. It’s a very interesting fight I give Floyd the edge, but who knows,” said Barry Hunter head honcho of the Headbangers Boxing Gym in Washington D.C. “I just hope it is as good as the last one,”  Hunter told Tha Boxing Voice,  a sentiment most waiting to watch tonight’s fight share.

As for if Lamont Peterson may face Danny Garcia in the near future, “You got a whole bunch of names out there, I know everyone is screaming for Lamont [Peterson] and Danny [Garcia]. If it comes to pass if it does it does, if it doesn’t it doesn’t,” Hunter explained. The big takeaway is Hunter simply doesn’t know what is next in store for Danny Garcia as he truly looked befuddled answering questions about Garcia’s future as if to say I have no knowledge beyond what you know. “Anthony [Dirrell] will be back sometime around October and  we are looking to get Lamont back in the ring no later than November,” Hunter stated explaining that a foe should be picked fairly soon.

As for an opponent, IBF Junior Welterweight Champion has history with Lucas Matthysse, Hunter voiced his opinion.“Absolutely, it’s one of the [fights] Lamont is very much interested in.” Last year, Matthysse knocked out Peterson with a left hook at a catchweight of 141 lbs. meaning Peterson kept his title. Since then even Floyd Mayweather has taken assault at Peterson for being a “paper champ” as he lost dramatically to Matthysse who didn’t want the belt, because he wanted to face Danny Garcia for the lineal championship. Matthysse, a week ago stopped Roberto Ortiz anti-climatically in the second round of a card headlined by Adrien Broner.
