Bowe, Toney, Mercer, Brewster & Byrd host cigar line launch party March 11 in Indiana

Five former heavyweight champions and cigar aficionados — Riddick Bowe, James Toney, Ray Mercer, Lamon Brewster and Chris Byrd — are hosting a launch party for their company’s new cigar line on March 11 at Indiana Grand Casino in Shelbyville, Indiana.

Aptly named Heavyweight Champs Cigars, the new cigar line celebrates two things that go together like peanut butter and jelly, or steak and red wine: watching boxing and a fat stogie. And it’s not the first time the five friends and ex-champions have ventured into business together, as Brewster named his 4 Champs Promotions outfit after investors Bowe, Toney, Mercer and Byrd.

Boxing fans in Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky would be foolish to miss this golden opportunity to meet five legends of the sport. Shelbyville is only a 30-minute drive from Indianapolis, an hour-long drive from Cincinnati and a 90-minute drive from Louisville. Even those who aren’t cigar connoisseurs should relish the chance to talk boxing and maybe get a few photos with five fighters who won a combined 231 bouts over the course of their careers and racked up countless world titles along the way.

The festivities begin at 9:30 PM and entry to the event is free. Another solid reason to attend is that the first forty guests will receive a free cigar.
