Two Saturdays ago Brandon Rios and Mike Alvarado engaged in act two of their grueling rivalry. Rios won the first fight via a 7th round stoppage. Alvarado took the second bout via decision by boxing, moving, and trading when the time called for it. A trilogy is in order, but how soon is the question?

Brandon Rios was a guest of ThaBoxingVoice.com’s radio show last week and if it was up to Rios, the rematch would be immediate.

“We got to do it again, do the tiebreaker. Honestly I’m a warrior, why not it be next. If Cameron wants it again, I would love to do it next. If Cameron (Dunkin) and the promotion want it next, shit I’d love to do it again next. I told Cameron Dunkin I want to fight him again immediately. He said I’m going to talk to Bob Arum and make it happen,” Rios explained to ThaBoxingVoice.com.

If you were to just look at both men’s faces after the fight, you would have throught Rios was the winner. Because he feels he came out mostly unscathed, he is ready to go for fight 3.

“I came out clean but I still had a bump on my eye. I was little bruised and swollen, its part of boxing. He face was more cut up and swollen. It looked like he went to war which he did. It’s the type of fights that we possess. Hopefully he gives me a rematch right away.”

Rios made it clear that he’s ok with going to Denver for the trilogy. “He wants to take me to Denver, don’t matter where, as long as I get the fight. He said he went to my backyard which isn’t true because he was training in California. We went to Vegas, which is none of our backyards, we can go to his backyard, fuck it.”

But if not Alvarado, what would be next for Rios? Two interesting observers sat ringside for the fight in Juan Manuel Marquez and Timothy Bradley, both of whom, where in fight of the year type fights the last time they fought respectively. Rios says bring them on.

“Whatever Cameron Dunkin puts in front of me, I’m ready for. If they want me to fight one of these big guys (Bradley and Marquez) first, cool. As long as we get Mike in the 3rd fight, I’m ok with it. Maybe next year, but we definitely want the 3rd fight, and it’s going to be even better.”

After two grueling wars with Alvarado, the question was posed to Rios if it was time for a break and maybe he should fight a less grueling tune up fight next. Rios responded by saying, “Why not an immediate 3rd fight with Alvarado? Why take a tune-up fight? I’m past tune up fights. I’m 31-1, there’s no point for tune up fights, my face is clean, I feel great, next week I’m a start running and I can’t wait to get back in the ring again.”

Angel “Memo” Heredia was the newest member of Team Rios for this fight with Mike Alvarado. Rios was asked if he felt Heredia was a good addition to the team and if he benefited from Memo’s training. Rios stated, “Everything that Heredia did, helped out. I was in top shape, he gave me power. My conditioning was great. It had nothing to do with what happened in the ring. The rounds I took off was because he was running and clinching. They had a game plan and they followed it, respect to them.”
