Luke Campbell MBE says Ricky Burns will stop Dejan Zlaticanin when the pair clash for the vacant WBC International Lightweight title in a final eliminator for the World title at the Braehead Arena in Glasgow on Friday June 27 live on Sky Sports.

Campbell has dazzled in the paid ranks, cruising to 5-0 with four stoppage wins and looking ready to land titles by the end of 2014. The Hull star has travelled down to Essex regularly during Burns’ training camp for the Zlaticanin fight, his first under new trainer Tony Sims, and Campbell says he’s learning so much from the former two-weight World champion and hopes the Scot is feeling the benefits too.

“It has been great sparring with Ricky, he’s a class act and he’s a gentleman so if I can help him out in any way I will,” said Campbell. “Sparring is an important part of training, you always learn in it, and the day you stop learning is the day to retire.

“I can only learn off Ricky, he’s been in with elite level and come out victorious. So if I can learn anything from him, which I am doing, it’s great, valuable training for me.

“Ricky is looking great. He’s looking fast, strong, ready for it. He’s always game, he’s that type of fighter, he just loves to fight and I think he will stop Zlaticanin.

“I feel that performance in the ring is all about happiness, Ricky is happy in the gym, he’s happy with Tony, you can see that a mile off. He loves to fight and the Scottish fans love him so I can’t see why he won’t come back on Friday week with that fire in his belly. He’s made changes, and sometimes fighters need that, so I think he’ll put in a great performance next week.”

Burns’ clash with Zlaticanin is part of a huge night of action in Glasgow as Willie Limond defends his Commonwealth title against Curtis Woodhouse who puts his British crown on the line in the process.

Cruiserweight rivals Stephen Simmons and Wadi Camacho are set for their grudge match with the Edinburgh man’s WBC International Silver belt on the line, Jon Slowey faces Kris Hughes for the vacant Celtic Featherweight title, unbeaten Lightweight star Scotty Cardle is set for a step-up fight and there is action for unbeaten Scottish talents David Brophy and Michael Roberts.
