froch_1760081aCarl Froch told TalkSport that a fight with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. is possibly a step closer to happening in Las Vegas. According to the report Eddie Hearn is making a trip to the United States to meet with Al Haymon who recently signed the Mexican star.

“Eddie Hearn is getting on a plane, I don’t know whether that is tomorrow or Wednesday, and he’s got a very important meeting with a guy called Al Haymon and hopefully there is going to be some news soon,” Carl Froch said to Talk Sport.

“He is now looking after Chavez Jr. and apparently he is not under that contract [with Top Rank] any more. If that is the case and he is a free agent, then there is no reason that fight can’t happen early next year, maybe March or April.”

A fight with Froch and Chavez was thrown around all last year but Chavez did not want to stay tied to a Top Rank contract as he turned down the Froch fight and a possible fight with Gennady Golovkin. Signing to Al Haymon is also a sign that he is either out of his Top Rank contract or there may be a possible buyout option.

Carl Froch does have a mandatory to face in James DeGale for his IBF super middleweight world title but Froch wants to fight in Las Vegas and a fight with DeGale isn’t a Las Vegas fight.

“I would fight James DeGale if that warranted going to Vegas,” said Froch. “Unfortunately, it would be at The O2 in England and I have done it, I have been there. At 37, I think I should be entitled to say ‘I fancy Las Vegas.’
