Highly touted Nicaraguan prospect Carlos Buitrago (27-0, 16 KO’s) scored an impressive unanimous decision victory on Saturday in Mexico against Julian Yedras (21-1, 13 KO’s), in a war where both fighters continuously rocked each other.
Buitrago picked up the interim WBO 105 pound belt and has pushed himself into the spotlight alongside his fellow countryman Roman Gonzalez .
Yedras has upped his stock with his brave performance against Buitrago but the fact that he landed a few low blows may come back to haunt him the way it did to Abner Mares.
Scorecards for the bout were 118-11, 118-110, 116-113 all in favor for Buitrago.
