“King” Carlos Molina has had a complex career that has been filled with long layoffs, wrongful loses and controversial draws. When it comes to bad luck in boxing Molina may have it the worst. Molina has draws against the likes of Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and Erislandy Lara that should have gone in his favor and should have had a victory over hard hitting James Kirkland but was disqualified after his corner stepped into the ring after Molina was knocked down and the bell rang.

Since then Molina has not fought much, not as much as he would like anyways. A highly avoided fighter, Molina’s style of close combat and fighting in the trenches seems to turn fighters away from fighting him. Molina has the ability to take a talented fighter and make them seem average or less than average. Some might say that his style is boring but in reality he is a very smart fighter and can take the victory away from any fighter with his style.

On Saturday all of Molina’s hard work paid off and his dream of fighting and winning a world title came true when he captured the 154 pound IBF title from Ishe Smith on “The One” pay per view. Now that he holds a belt Molina should have no issues finding an opponent and will now carry a target on him and he would have it no other way.
