robinson castellanos - prepesaje 4Last weekend, Robinson Castellanos stopped former undefeated fighter Ronny Rios in just 5 rounds. The victory was significant enough for Castellanos, (20-10, 13 KOs), to seek a featherweight clash with Jhonny Gonzalez, who just 2 weeks ago, put an end to Jorge Arce’s career.

Gonzalez, (57-8, 48 KOs), campaigns at featherweight where he holds the WBC title, which he won from Abner Mares after a shocking 1st round knockout. Castellanos on the other hand, is a division north of featherweight, campaigning at super featherweight.  Before the end of the year, Castellanos could face Rocky Juarez who is no easy task. Should he be victorious in that bout, he is considering moving down a division to hopefully secure a bout with Gonzalez, who he himself, had interest in the winner of last night’s fight between Nonito Donaire and Nicholas Walters. If the fights is set in stone, it would be Walters who Gonzalez meets considering he completely wiped Donaire off the map with a stunning 6th round knockout. Before talks of Gonzalez vs. Castellanos even happen, if they even do. Both fighters will probably have a fight or two in between, a loss by either guy completely shuts down any possibility of the fight happening.

Castellanos is waiting on the advice from his managers on the move, but has full support of the WBC and Golden Boy Promotions.
