Chavez Jr.Throughout the last quarter of last year and most of the first quarter of this year, there were rumors about a possible fight between Carl Froch and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. For whatever the reason, the fight did not come off and both went their separate ways. Chavez Jr. is fighting April 18th, and Carl Froch is sidelined with an injury, Chavez Jr., who started training camp with his new trainer Joe Goossen, expects the fight to happen this year.

The fight’s really close but Froch suffered an injury, so the fight is not happening last year,” Chavez Jr. told FightHype.com “ I think the fight happens this year because a lot of people want to see this fight, especially in the UK, a lot of pay-per-views. Here in the U.S., a lot of pay-per-views, and in Mexico.”

Chavez Jr. has also been mentioned as a potential Golovkin foe throughout most of last year, but he feels Froch is the fighter with the better resume.

“Carl Froch is a great fighter because he fought Andre Ward, Arthur Abraham. I think he beat better opponents then Golovkin.”

As for where the fight should take place, Chavez hopes it happens in the United States

“I don’t care where it is. I like to fight in LA. But because he’s got more people that follow him over there (United Kingdom). Like Pacquiao, his pay-per-views dropped when he went to China; I’d like to have the fight here.”
