Last Saturday’s fight between Jaron Ennis and Chris Van Heerden was a disappointment. It was a disappointment for the fans that were looking forward to the scrap but it was a bigger disappointment to the fighters themselves.

In case you missed it the fight was ruled a no contest in the first round. A clash of heads left both fighters dazed and Van Heerden was left with a gash on his head that looked like a bullet had grazed him.

Van Heerden has faced some backlash from boxing fans due to what transpired. His game plan was to have the fight slowed down but neither fighter really got to execute their plan. He did not get much time in the ring with Ennis but that little bit that he got assured him that Ennis will in fact be a champion one day.

“People shitting on me saying Ennis landed big shots round 1 HAHA no shit,” Tweeted Van Heerdan. “26-0-24 KO takes his opponents out within 6 Rounds he was always going to land big shots early. I was going to take it, adjust and test him. I stepped in on 3 weeks notice not 8

He will be a champ no doubt.”
