Cotto-Miguel73Miguel Cotto’s ring return date is slated for the summer. Numerous media outlets have reported Cotto getting back into the ring either May or June. But are his actions affected by the ongoing Mayweather-Pacquiao negotiations? And if, not who is the opponent in mind?

According to his advisor Gabriel Penagaricano, Cotto next move is not dependent on anything.

“Basically we’ve always said that Miguel [Cotto] going to fight in the summer, most likely in May or June,” Penagaricano told RingTV.com.

Regarding waiting on Mayweather-Pacquiao, Penagaricano said, “That’s no factor at all. Our decision will have nothing to do with that, but I don’t want to go into potential opponents yet.”

Fighthype reported that Timothy Bradley could be a potential Cotto opponent in June in New York at Madison Square Garden, where Cotto is the most successful boxer in terms of ticket sales at the gate.

But as far as venue and opponent Penagaricano is mum on all fronts.

“We’re looking at different places,” said Penagaricano. “That’s why I’ve said that it is not necessarily going to be New York. Maybe it’s New York, but that’s not [a confirmation.]”
