Daniel “Miracle Man” JacobsĀ (Brooklyn, N.Y.) is heading in to his third fight back from cancer on Saturday at the Barclays Center, and he will be able to do so with his mind solely focused on boxing. The 26-year-old is wrapping up a successful training camp in the New York area, and great news at a recent doctors visit ensured that he will enter the April 27th bout with his mind clear.

Jacobs’ doctor, Dr. Hartl, one of the outstanding physicians that helped save his life during his harrowing battle with Osteosarcoma, a form ofĀ bone cancer, gave him the fantastic news that his current tests are cancer free. The positive results came at the end of a grueling training camp to prepare him for a middleweight showdown with Keenan Collins on the undercard of the Danny Garcia-Zab Judah contest on April 27.

“I’ve pushed myself harder this training camp than I have for any other fight since making my comeback,” Jacobs said. “Now with this behind me, I can get ready for April 27 with no problem whatsoever.”

Despite their intense training schedule, Jacobs and his team took a break for a celebratory evening late in his camp to attend the Boxing Writers of America Association ceremony where he received the Bill Crawford award for courage in overcoming adversity. The event offered Jacobs and his friends and family a chance to celebrate his amazing road back to the boxing ring.

Jacobs’ upcoming middleweight match-up with Collins is his second at the beautiful Barclays Center, and his third straight in the New York area. He returned triumphantly to the ring in his hometown of Brooklyn at the Barclays Center on October 20, 2012 after an 18-month absence due to his life-threatening cancer diagnosis and added a second victory at boxing mecca, Madison Square Garden in December.
