Danny Garcia May Fight In Puerto Rico In March

Danny “Swift” Garcia has grown as a star since beating Lucas Matthysse. He silenced many critics (including myself) and proved himself to be worthy of one of the top spots amongst 140 pound fighters in the world. His fan base has grown tremendously and if things go well his fan base in Puerto Rico may grow with talks about Garcia’s fight with Mauricio Herrera taking place there on March 15th.

In a recent interview with El Vocero (newspaper from Puerto Rico), Garcia’s father spoke about how proud he would be for his son to fight on the island.

“For me it would be an honor for Danny to fight in Puerto Rico,” said Angel. “He feels very Puerto Rican and we would love for the people to consider him as one of their own.”

According to Angel there is a high chance of the fight taking place there and being broadcast on Showtime as well.

“There is a high percentage of it (the fight taking place) in Puerto Rico. It will be a Showtime televised event and that would be great for Danny who is Puerto Rican even though many say that he is not because he was not born there but both of his parents were born and raised in Puerto Rico.”

Should the fight take place on the island it would most likely happen at the Coliseo Ruben Rodriguez in Bayamon.
