There was a heavyweight scrap this past weekend on ESPN that concluded with Bermane Stiverne stopping Chris Arreola en route to becoming the WBC World Heavyweight Champion. Former Heavyweight title holder, David Haye was on hand watching the festivities.

We haven’t seen David Haye since he beat up on his countrymen Derek Chisora. But a shoulder injury forced Haye to pull out a fight with Tyson Fury. But Haye looking in good shape is keeping fit in the boxing gym.

“I’m always in the gym, always looking out for myself. I’m doing rehab on my shoulder. It’s getting better,” explained Haye.

An interesting observed in the heavyweight division, Haye was entertained by the heavyweight scrap and feels its new life for the division.

“The fight was very entertaining, 2 guys going to work, I enjoyed it. If you look at the division the past years, it’s been me and The Klitschkos, it’s been athletes. I wouldn’t call Stiverne an athlete. He’s very skillful, has a big punch, and has a big heart clearly. He took some big punches and came back. It’s nice to see someone else with the title.”

While Haye congratulates Stiverne, he feels his reign as WBC champion will be short-lived especially if he takes on Deontay Wilder.

I think Wilder knocks him out. Going by tonight’s performance and sparring with Wilder, I’d have to go Wilder,” added Haye. Haye also cleared up the Wilder sparring rumor. “I never dropped him in sparring.”

The real question is if we will see Haye in the ring in the near future or ever, Haye leaves the door open but nothing is certain.

“If everything heals up like I hope it does, you might see me back in the ring, you never know.”
