David Lemieux has won his past eight fights since losing back-to-back bouts against Marco Antonio Rubio and Joachim Alcine, respectively. Since those tough losses, Lemieux has rebounded to win seven of those eight fights by knockout.
Despite articulating that he is not a huge fan of the sport, Lemieux offers insight into any fight just as well as any fighter.
Although Mayweather-Pacquiao is five years too late for some fans, the fight is still guaranteed to be the richest fight in boxing history if the deal were to be made Furthermore, many analysts are predicting such a close fight, a rematch is imminent between the two legends.
The hard-punching Lemieux, who has 31 knockouts out of his 33 victories, thinks the fight will come down to Mayweather’s ability to take Pacquiao’s punches and Mayweather’s superior boxing skills.
“That is going to be a very interesting fight, but it is very controversial because once Manny Pacquiao starts hitting you with those heavy hands, how is Mayweather going to react,” questioned Lemieux. “If Mayweather has to box this guy, I am going for Mayweather. ”
“Mayweather is a tremendous fighter, he’s got amazing skills, but let’s see how he reacts when he starts getting hit.”
Lemieux’s last bout was against the fearless Gabriel Rosado this past December, which ended in a 10th round TKO victory for Lemieux. Referee Steve Willis, who initially stepped in, allowed the fight to continue, but proceeded to stop the bout six seconds later when it was already clear that Rosado had grotesque damage to his face.
Given things run smoothly, Lemieux expects to return to the ring around March.
“March is what we are looking for,” said Lemieux. It will be on HBO.”
