Featherweight Francisco De Vaca (12-0, 4 KO’s) defeated Jose Silveira (15-16, 6 KO’s) Saturday evening at the Celebrity Theatre in Phoenix, Arizona in the main event brought to you by Iron Boy Promotions.
De Vaca controlled the pace from the opening bell, popping Silveira with the jab, and some short right hands.
In the second round, De Vaca had Silveria in trouble from a right on the ropes. However, both their feet became entangled, both sending them to the canvas.
De Vaca continued to fight smart in the third, snapping Silveria’s head back with the straight right hand, but didn’t have the power to deter the veteran from continuing his forward progression.
However, De Vaca and trainer Robert Alcazar have put an adequate amount of emphasis on angles, and the Mexican was able to avoid Silveria’s shots
Unable to put his man on the canvas, De Vaca attacked the body, landing good combinations, smothering his man on the ropes, and landing shots Rocky Balboa style. However, Silveria was not affected and began to taunt De Vaca to give him his best shot.
De Vaca responded to the taunts, throwing with big, lunging haymakers, but he was coming up with air. Silveria had the opportunity to counter De Vaca at that moment, but couldn’t react quickly enough.
In the sixth round, De Vaca again, played it smart, landing solid combinations, but he was unable to finish his man.
De Vaca picked up his 12th victory and remained undefeated, as he prepares to fight again on August 15th against another undefeated fighter in Oscauris Frias.
