Demetrius AndradeEsnewsreporting.com recently caught up with WBO World super-welterweight champion Demetrius ‘Boo Boo’ Andrade(21-0, 14KO’s) and got his opinion on the upcoming heavyweight title fight on April 25th in New York City between Wladimir Klitschko(63-3, 53KO’s) and Bryant Jennings(19-0, 10KO’s).

Klitschko’s WBA Super, WBO, IBF and IBO World Heavyweight titles will all be on the line in the latest incarnation of Madison Square Garden and Jennings is attempting to make a grab for them all with a huge disadvantage in most measurable areas; height, weight, reach, power and experience. On paper, it looks like a kamikaze mission but Andrade laid out a possible plan with which Jennings could make a dent in the mountain before him.

“Klitschko is no joke. He is huge. Bryant Jennings is always in shape, if he stays busy, tries to smother and get underneath Klitschko’s punches and maybe gets low enough to throw some body shots and try his best to rough him up, it could be an entertaining fight.”

Klitschko’s last opponent Kubrat Pulev had the audacity to actually land some nice shots when he got inside on the big Ukranian, most visibly about two minutes into the fifth round; a quick jab-right hand followed by a little clipping left hook that wobbled the champion. Ten seconds later he was laid flat on his back, courtesy of a monstrous left hook. Klitschko has the power to end a contest at any second, even more so than any other heavyweight, except maybe one.

Aside from Ruslan Chagaev, who holds an inferior version of Klitschko’s WBA strap, the American KO artist Deontay Wilder(33-0, 32KO’s) is the only other man in the division with a legit belt, the green WBC. Andrade feels Wilder has the required physical dimensions to pose more of a problem to Klitschko -who stands 6’6” with an 81” reach- than his smaller, less power countryman Jennings.

“Klitschko is just so tough man. He’s a tough, big, long, heavy hitter but Deontay now, fighting Klitschko. Deontay is six something, long reach, and he does have pop. That right there, that fight there is gonna be based on distance and who’s gonna commit a little bit more, and I believe Deontay has a reach advantage to come over the top and land some right hands but, we all know Klitschko got a nice sharp shooter and when that bitch come out, it’s lights out.”

He paints a vivid picture of what those two skull-crushing behemoths would likely do against one and other if they met, but after Jennings Klitschko will likely face the UK’s Tyson Fury(24-0, 18KO’s) who occupies the mandatory challenger’s position for the WBO portion of his title. Tyson is just as tall and long as the champion but doesn’t hit nearly as hard when set side by side, a shortfall that may handicap him somewhat if and when he gets his chance. We can be sure Fury will get his chance before Wilder though, whose belt will only add political confusion between the sanctioning bodies as there will be five straps endangered if they come together.
