Is there any man out there who can put an end to Wladimir Klitschko’s dominance of the heavyweight division? Klitschko (63-3, 53 Kos) has been atop the division for the past decade. In an interview with FightHype.com, newly crowned WBC Heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder was adamant. He knows he is the man that will beat him.
“I am the guy that can beat Klitschko; I definitely don’t think it; I am the guy that will beat him. I am only getting better. The thing about Klitschko is that he’s not going to change up anything. He’s going to stay the same,” said Wilder in a video exclusive.
Wilder adds: “I’m 10 times better than when we first sparred. Everything I’ve done, I’ve gotten better at it, and I still have room to increase and improve. He’s older. Now he is a family man, having a baby, and a wife. All that takes a toll on you, your career, and everything else. All that is going to play a part and effect in that fight. I’m definitely confident in me being the victor in that fight, hands down.”
Perhaps Wilder has a point. A Klitschko-Wilder fight could be the biggest heavyweight title fight since Wladimir’s older brother Vitali Klitschko took on Lennox Lewis. Furthermore, it would be far more competitive than what Klitschko-Jennings could even come close to offering. I think anyone with respect for the sport of boxing could see with their two eyes that this fight has to happen. This is like the Mayweather-Pacquiao of the heavyweight division, with more height and more fists. If boxing wants to make a talk about fistory, this is what we’re talking about.
