Khan-AlexanderFormer two-weight world champion Devon Alexander is confident of victory ahead of his December 13th clash with Amir Khan. Promoted by Golden Boy Promotions, Alexander-Khan is the headliner in a Showtime televised event which also features the explosive Keith Thurman up against Leonard Bundu and Jermell Charlo vs.Demetrius Andrade.

Before the showdown at the Mandalay Bay Resort later next month ThaBoxingVoice caught up with Devon who is not impressed with Khan fighting under the guidance of Virgil Hunter. Alexander feels that Khan is still making the same mistakes with Hunter who has been appointed the job of correcting Khan’s defensive technique after his heavy KO defeat to Danny Garcia in 2012.

“In my opinion he is still doing the same things wrong, Virgil [Hunter] may have improved him technically a little bit, he’s moving his head and not getting hit as much other than that I see the same old Amir Khan.”

Alexander told ThaBoxingVoice “He hits and then he pulls his head back out into the air, it’s kind-of-like when [Marcos] Maidana caught him in the 11th round when they fought.”

Devon Alexander clearly feels that Amir Khan is still making mistakes defensively and he has the tools to exploit these weaknesses. In his last fight earlier this year Khan appeared to have improved his defensive style when he outpointed Luis Collaz. Khan’s main asset is clearly his speed, however, Alexander is not worried because he believes he can match Khan with his own hand-speed.

Alexander added “I still see the same thing, he’s there to be hit. I’m definitely going to hit him because I’m just as fast as him.”

It will be interesting to see if Alexander can match the speed of Khan and if he can exploit these weaknesses he sees in his style. Whatever the case it’s a great match-up and both fighters see this as a must win fight. At this stage of their careers both fighters can’t afford another loss and it’s a real 50/50 fight in many fans eyes.
