While many boxing fans and members of the media (myself included) are still scratching our heads over how Angel Garcia could get away with all that he said and did a few days ago, a more confusing question comes up. How can Danny Garcia just sit back and laugh while his clown of a father gets up and makes a fool out of both of them?
According to Danny, it’s all for entertainment and to sell the fight and it’s something that he finds to be quite hilarious.
“At the end of the day, that’s how he (Angel) is,” stated Garcia. “I can’t change him. I just sit back and laugh. I’ve heard worse things from our new President [Donald Trump].”
Danny acts like he has no control over what his father does when in fact he has all the control. He could tell his father to sit down and shut up and Angel could do nothing about it because he is not the one fighting. Making excuses for his father does not help either. Just because a bigot was elected as the president and said a great deal of trash towards almost every ethnicity on earth does not make it as an excusable reason for someone else to do the same. The phrase one hears growing up makes total sense here. If your friends jumped off of a bridge would you?
Angel needs to be controlled and Danny needs to assist in that control. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, this does not belong in boxing. If you want to be a clown join the circus. Watch your mouth before it catches up to you. Ruben Guerrero had Angel scared when he was ready to walk the walk with Angel but Angel was all talk. If a fighter such as Thurman were to go that route then Angel would be in a world of trouble.
