Edwin “La Bomba” Rodriguez (24-0, 16 KO’s) may face Andre Ward in November on HBO in what promises to be an explosive fight or a technical mismatch.

Negotiations for the fight are still going on but the fights terms and negotiations are practically done. Tha Boxing Voice caught up with Rodriguez during “The One” fight week and asked Rodriguez about the Ward fight and he would like Ward to not worry about Rodriguez’ purse and to worry about his own.

“My team, I believe is still talking to his team,” said Rodriguez. “That’s the fight I want so let’s make it happen. He is stuck on saying that he made me a great offer but you know, worry about your own money, I worry about mine.”

Though nothing is concrete until contracts are signed, Rodriguez team and Wards team want to make the fight happen and a verbal agreement (which could be as good as a handshake) was reached on wanting the fight.

“At the end of the day, my team and his team agreed to come to an agreement to make the fight happen and I will give him his first loss.”

Rodriguez is represented by Al Haymon, who HBO has strayed away from as well as Golden Boy Promotions. Rodriguez fights under Lou DiBella and does not see HBO’s quarrel with Haymon and GBP affecting him being on the network especially with an Andre Ward fight. Aside from Ward, GBP has some options for Rodriguez as well.

” I think we can still work something out with HBO. The Andre Ward fight is still there. I’m not with Golden Boy I am with Lou DiBella, DBE, and working with Al Haymon I think I will be able to fight guys from Golden Boy. Sakio Bika who just won the WBC title. I’m looking to snatch it from him. That’s a fight that I am looking to make happen.”
