Loyalty means a lot in boxing. Many will say they are loyal while the times are good but once things begin to change that loyalty gets tested.

Frank Espinoza Sr. and Jr. have been dedicated to Oscar Valdez through thick and thin. They came to the conclusion after the Quigg fight that he needed to better himself in the ring for his own health and they decided to hook up with Eddy Reynoso to help improve Valdez’s defense.

It was a smart move which came together perfectly in Valdez performance against Berchelt. The pride and joy Valdez brought to Espinoza Boxing is great and they released a statement in Twitter in a series of Tweets reflecting on their journey with Valdez and letting us know the best is yet to come.

“I’m so proud of Oscar. He earned this moment. He put in the work, remain discipline, and trust the process under the guidance of Eddy Reynoso a few years ago. As a team we decided to go in another direction in finding a new trainer. Frank Sr. and team knew an important decision had to be made. Oscar had shown tremendous balls and heart in his fights but we knew deep down although it makes exciting fights, we knew his health was more important. We needed a trainer to help him learn more defense and to bring out Oscar’s skills. Eddy is bringing out the best out of Oscar and the best is yet to come! Sometimes you have to trust the process even when others do not agree.”
