Terence Crawford Timothy BradleyOn October 24th, Terrence “Bud” Crawford (27-0, 19 KO’s) took on and dismantled Dierry Jean in front of a packed arena in Omaha, Nebraska. Crawford came out from the opening bell and asserted himself as the dominant fighter. Late in the first round he would send Jean to the canvas then constantly rocking Jean for the remainder of the fight and sending Jean down twice more, one in the ninth round and once more for a final time in the tenth round when he stopped Jean.

Crawford seemed very motivated to impress in the boutique with Jean. Prior to the fight, Jean and his manager were trash talking Crawford. Aside from the trash talk fueling Crawford he was motivated by his promoter Bob Arum telling him beforehand that he could be next in line to fight former pound for pound king Manny “Pac-Man” Pacquiao for Pacquiao’s final fight in April of 2016.

What does a fight between Crawford and Pacquiao have to offer? Top Rank really has no fighters in the welterweight division to fight Pacquiao that haven’t already. Would it serve as a passing of the torch for Top Rank’s next big star?

Crawford fighting Pacquiao does not do much for me aside for it being a nice payday for Crawford. Although Pacquiao is still a big name in boxing, he is a fading star. I don’t want to see a young, bright star fight an older fading star. There is one other fighter that Top Rank has that would make for a real interesting fight with Crawford against Timothy “Dessert Storm” Bradley.

Styles make fights, and Crawford vs. Bradley has it all. Both fighters can box or bang. They are both great offensive and defensive fighters with plenty of heart. They can take punches and most important of all, they are both in their prime. It’s the type of match-up that would please all types of fans and provide fireworks.

It may not give the fighters the payday they want, but it would probably be better for boxing fans and provide more entertainment.
