Carl FrochFormer two-division world champion Paul Malignaggi has warned former super-middleweight champion Carl Froch against taking on WBA Super World middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin, stating that the Kazakh superstar is a risk he doesn’t need to take at this point in his career.

Froch (33-2) has been contemplating whether to come out of his semi-retirement to face Golovkin at Wembley Stadium, but lately, Froch has been busy pursuing an acting career.

He will make his screen debut in a film called “Once Upon a Time in London.” According to IMDB.com, Froch is still the only confirmed star in the movie thus far, where he will play a man named John.

Speaking with Sky Sports, Malignaggi believes the fight is risky but he, like many fans, would love to see the fight.

“I want to see it,” Malignaggi laughed when asked for this thoughts about a potential Golovkin-Froch matchup at Wembley Stadium. “I think it’s a phenomenal fight. Carl Froch has had such a magnificent career, and it makes you wonder, does he really need to take such a big risk?”

A fight with Gennady Golovkin with an active Carl Froch would still be a dangerous fight. The Kazakh powerhouse has knocked out or stopped his last 20 opponents

Earlier this month, Golovkin stopped Willie Monroe Jr. inside the sixth round at The Forum in Inglewood, California.

“For the fans, it’s an amazing fight and an amazing event. From Carl Froch’s standpoint, you wonder does he take the Mayweather route,” Malignaggi added.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. defeated Manny Pacquiao by unanimous decision in a highly-anticipated fight on May 2nd and plans to fight one more time before hanging up the gloves.

“He may kind of slide off into the sunset instead of fighting the Amir Khans or the Kell Brooks of the world. Does he go off and take on the big gun like Gennady Golovkin or does he kind of fade off into the sunset with a farewell fight?”

In 2014, Froch had no interest in fighting Golovkin, adding that it was a “dangerous fight.”

“Just swerve Golovkin like the plague. He punches like a mule. I don’t need to be in with him. Dangerous fight,” said Froch.

Those comments were made in July, two months after Froch’s most recent fight against George Groves, who he stopped inside of the eighth round of their rematch.

It’s been 10 months since Froch made those comments and Golovkin isn’t going away anytime soon. I don’t see this fight happening. As ‘The Cobra’ said, just swerve Golovkin like the plague.
