050213_gabriel-rosado_600Gabriel Rosado began boxing at the age of 18. Despite his late start into the sweet science, he has managed to continuously grow as a fighter, and seems to be at the doorstep of being a world champion in the middleweight division. Even though Rosado has been winless in his previous four outings, he claims his record doesn’t describe the full story.

Rosado first discussed his bout with J’Leon Love, who he lost to, but was later ruled a no contest due to the fact Leon tested positive for a banned substance after the fight. Despite Love using an illegal substance, Rosado still felt that he won the fight. Rosado stated, “I think the fans spoke up loudly when I fought J’Leon Love. They all felt that I won.” Then Rosado mentioned the Peter Quillin bout, stating he also felt he was on the brink of winning that fight as well.

Rosado stated, “With Peter Quillin, I honestly felt that I was on the verge of getting a knockout. I felt like I had momentum on my said. I had Quillin on his heels. The commentators all had me up on the fight when it got stopped, and it got stopped in the championship rounds.”

Rosado went on to say, “I’ve been involved in some controversial decisions.” And despite Rosado feeling he’s been a victim of unfortunate mishaps in recent fights, he feels his performances are still good enough to earn him respect in the boxing world. Rosado stated, “I’ve had losses but they are fights people said I was winning on the commentator scorecards. The only time I flat out lost was against Jermell Charla, and a lot of that was thinking I can make 154 again, and it killed me to make weight. But when we are talking middleweight, the only guy who beat me legitimately is Triple G. But when I look at the Love and Quillin fight, those are fights fans felt I was winning and so do I. The fans know better. You can’t fool the fans and that’s why I think I’m getting this fight.”

Rosado believes a win over David Lemeiux will finally be the break he has been waiting for. A win would surely elevate his rankings in the middleweight division, and might land him another title shot in the near future. He feels determined to get the victory and it will be interesting if he can pull off a victory at the Barclay Center on December 6, or if it will be another setback in his career.
