Controversy is nothing new in boxing. Fighters, promoters, judges and even referees are all accused of favoring certain people or doing something dirty in the ring or behind the scenes.

The latest bit of controversy comes from a fighter who will step into the ring tomorrow night, “King” Gabriel Rosado.

Rosado was speaking on his fight with Gennady Golovkin that happened in January where Rosado was being brutalized by every punch that Golovkin landed. Rosado feels that he took the beating that he received due to suspect gloves worn by Golovkin.

“When I noticed them, them shits were skinny as shit,” said Rosado. “Mine had more cushion on the knuckles, and his had a little less. When he hit me in the first round, it felt different.”

How punishing were the punches that were landing? Very. Rosado looked like a train wreck after taking beating after beating in almost every round of the fight which we saw Rosado on his bicycle for a good portion to box, stick and move.

“He only hit me with a jab, but it felt like a bat hitting the top of my dome. When he hit me, I could straight feel the wraps. You don’t really start feeling the wraps until it’s like the ninth or 10th round when the gloves start breaking down and in. But first round, you don’t start feeling the wraps . You get hit, you just feel that thud. So when he was hitting me, it was more of that type of an impact. I got cut twice in the same eye. Them gloves are suspect as shit. Even though they’re not illegal, it is what it is.”
