20130701_fighter_nom_03Gabriel Rosado knows that it has been over two years since he has scored a victory. Despite no wins in his past four professional bouts, although a majority of ringside analysts felt that he beat J’Leon Love in May a year ago, Rosado likes his chances against David Lemieux.

Lemieux (32-2, 30 KO) is riding a seven fight win streak after suffering back-to-back defeats at the hands of Marco Antonio Rubio and Joachim Alcine, but this has not seemed to affect the way Rosado has trained thus far.

“Everything is going good, training hard and having a great camp,” said Rosado. “Jesse Reid, Danny Davis, Greg Hackett, we’ve got a good team together.”

Stephen Espinoza, the executive for Showtime Sports, criticized the fight, tweeting “Somebody explain how their main events are guys who lost in our opening fights and co-features.”

Espinoza was referring to Diego Chaves and Gabriel Rosado. Although Rosado did respond to Espinoza’s tweet, Rosado knows that is normal HBO vs. Showtime shenanigans.
“It is just a competition thing, two networks,” said Rosado. “I do not really think it was personal.”

The casual boxing fan does not always understand that styles make fights. Furthermore, they do not understand that boxers can change over a period of time. Some have said that Lemieux will destroy Rosado based on the fact that Lemieux dominated Fernando Guerrero in his most recent bout, but Rosado lost to Guerrero in their bout. Rosado finds the logic laughable.

“It is really not a comparison because I fought Fernando Guerrero damn near almost six years ago,” chuckled Rosado. “I fought Guerrero when he was more of a seasoned fighter. I was learning on the job at the time,” he added.

Much has changed for Gabriel Rosado since the Guerrero fight. For example, he has had more time to commit to boxing than he ever has before. This could make Rosado a very dangerous man to be up against.

“In the beginning of my career, I was working graveyard shifts, so I was training for 10-12 round fights working 8-10 hour shifts,” said Rosado. “It is hard to manage that.” “The difference now is that I am able to just train, focus on my career, and boxing 24/7,” he added.

With a brand new team, Gabriel Rosado could possibly surprise David Lemieux come Saturday, December 6th when these two warriors battle at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
