Garcia On Khan “Cotto’s a strong guy with a lot of experience and big punching power”

Danny GarciaSo is Amir Khan fighting Chris Algieri or was it a still tactic possibly to land a bigger fight in New York. Khan was on his wife’s YouTube channel and declared Algieri his opponent and used a keyword that he hoped it was Chris Algieri on May 30th. The fans took to social media and immediately killed the fight. I think it’s a decent fight if it leads to a Kell Brook fight later this year. However, if Khan feels he should jump to a Mayweather or Pacquiao fight from a Chris Algieri victory, then that’s a different story.

Amir Khan was just in Las Vegas last week telling the media that he would love a Miguel Cotto fight at 155 for the lineal Middleweight Championship. Khan is with Haymon and Cotto is now with Roc Nation Sports. History tells us that the two will not do business. Former Khan conqueror Danny Garcia doesn’t see the fight happening either.

“That’s an odd matchup, Puerto Rico and the UK,” Garcia told ThaBoxingVoice.com “Miguel Cotto does have a big following; Khan has a big following in the UK. I see it as an odd fight but hey if it happens, it’s a good fight for both fighters.”

Most people think will not face a big puncher until he cashes out on a Mayweather, Pacquiao, or even a Miguel Cotto fight. Before Khan moved to 147, he was known for taking on all comers. However at 147, he has been moved kind of away from the big punchers. Garcia feels that Khan would be in trouble against Cotto.

“I don’t know. I guess Khan thinks he can go in there and outbox him and hit him. But Cotto’s a strong guy with a lot of experience and big punching power. Khan from his previous fights, he doesn’t do well against big punchers.”
