Shawn Porter - Danny GarciaTeam Garcia is clearly focused on the mission in front of them. Danny Garcia is fighting Paulie Malignaggi on ESPN as the “PBC” card broadcasts live from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. It is a tough test, and it will be a difficult test for Garcia who is fighting at 147lbs for the first time in his career – making the leap from the 140lb division he dominated.

Garcia at welterweight offers up some interesting matchups, and he makes an already talented division that much richer when you consider the star quality of 147 lbs. One of those interesting fights is Danny and Shawn Porter.

Danny mentioned Porter as a potential opponent, which got the attention of Team Porter. The way Garcia sees it Porter offers up the perfect style for his and believes it is a good matchup. In fact, Garcia basically laid out the winning game plan for a fight with Porter.

Angel Garcia refuses to discuss any sort of plan for anyone other than Malignaggi, which is smart. He is not overlooking the task at hand, but he agrees with his son’s vision and believes could be a fantastic fight.

“If Danny said that then Danny already sees the vision. I mean, I’m worried about Malignaggi right now. I’m not going to push Malignaggi to the curb. I don’t want to drop the cake before the party. I want to focus on Malignaggi, but I think [Porter is tailor-made for Danny’s style], too because he comes forward, and that would be a great style for Danny. Everybody runs from Danny, but that would be a good fight [with Porter],” Angel Garcia told Thaboxingvoice.com.

Shawn Porter and his father/trainer Kenny Porter flew to New York to attend the welterweight showdown between Garcia and Malignaggi. Let’s hope that their paths cross at some point in the night.
