Jr. middleweight boxer Glen Tapia (20-1 12KO’s) will be making his return to the ring after suffering a brutal loss at the hands of James Kirkland in December of last year. Tapia will be facing journeyman Keenan Collins (15-8 8KO’s) on June 14th at Bally’s in Atlantic City New Jersey.

Since suffering the brutal loss to Kirkland last year, Tapia has made some changes in his camp and training. He has made the move out to Los Angeles and is now training at the famed Wild Card gym in Hollywood with Freddy Roach.

Tapia stands at 5’11 in height and is physically strong and possesses good size for a jr. middleweight. He has all the heart in the world and a good chin. However, he isn’t the most physically gifted fighter in terms of speed and/or power. He is also easy to hit. But Tapia is extremely young and can possibly improve.

Freddy Roach is an excellent trainer who will be able to provide knowledge and great sparring to Glen Tapia. The Wild Card gym can be a place where he truly grows and develops as a pro fighter. His opponent on June 14th will be journeyman Keenan Collins. Collins has faced the likes of Charles Whittaker, Gabriel Rosado and Daniel Jacobs. The loss to Jacobs was a 4th round TKO and it was also the last time he has been in the ring. This is clearly a tune-up fight for Tapia and he should win in impressive fashion. I am more curious to see where Tapia is mentally and if he still has the zest for battle. We as fans know he will most likely win this fight, but the question is how?
