downloadGennady Golovkin was making his rounds to promote his February fight with Martin Murray. His first stop was to the United Kingdom where Murray is from. His second stop was in Mexico to pick up his WBC title. After all his last fight was dubbed, ‘Mexican Style’. While in Mexico Golovkin joined the show Golpes a Golpes where he made it known who he wanted to fight after his fight with Murray should he win.

“After my fight with Murray, I want the big names, Chavez Jr., Canelo, Froch, Cotto, and Mayweather. But I think the biggest and best fight for me is Chavez Jr.,” Golovkin said.

He’s not overlooking Murray either. “Not to disrespect Murray because he’s given Felix Sturm and Sergio Martinez tough fights so hopefully we can win by knockout,” stated Golovkin.

His promoter, Tom Loeffler, is a bit more realistic when making fights as he knows making a fight with Chavez is difficult.

“We would love to get Gennady a big fight. Chavez Jr. would be difficult because it’s hard to tell what’s going on with his promotional situation,” explained Loeffler.

Loeffler hopes to land the winner of Canelo-Cotto should they fight in May as Golovkin is the number 1 contender to the WBC title Cotto holds.

“I think the more feasible opponent is the Cotto-Canelo winner. We’d love to fight the winer, we’re not sure if either would get in the ring with Golovkin, but we believe if Canelo wins, it would be the easier fight to make and it would be huge, especially in September,” stated Loeffler.
