download (1)Despite being thrashed by the media, his promoter, and HBO, people are still clamoring about Guillermo Rigondeaux (14-0, Kos 9). Whenever Leo Santa Cruz, or any other top super bantamweight fighter is interviewed, Rigondeaux’s name is always mentioned.

The boxing world has only seen one round of Rigondeaux thus far in 2014 against Sod Kokietgym. Now according to an article written by Elisinio Castillo on Boxingscene.com, he will finally return to action in Tokyo, Japan against Hisashi Amagasa (28-4-2, 19 Kos) on December 31, 2014.

It remains unclear at what time, or which network his fight will be aired on, but it’s a real shame his activity level has been extremely low this year. According to Boxingscene.com, Rigondeaux’s manager claims his fighter will be earning $500,000 for the bout.

Rigondeaux seems to be doing financially well, and if there’s anyone hurting from this situation it’s the boxing fans that would like to see a great fighter at work.

There has been no real indication of fans not wanting to see Rigondeaux fight. It was just an HBO, Top Rank propaganda that the majority of the media bought into. This article  thoroughly disproves any myth that Rigondeaux does not want to be viewed by the boxing world.

To be clear, it’s not that fight fans didn’t want to see Rigondeaux fight, it was HBO, and Top Rank who showed disapproval towards his style, thus sending him into exile. Now he’s apparently having negotiation issues with different companies who want to sign him according to an article titled Update On the State of Rigolution, published by Sweet Science, and written by Michael Woods.

Rigondeaux along with other great fighters such as Mikey Garcia, Julio Chavez Jr., and Andre Ward have sat on the shelf in 2014 for different reasons. Perhaps in 2015, these fighters will get their just due, and be involved in some of the biggest fights of the year.

    Possible match-ups can be.
    · Mikey Garcia – Yuriorkis Gamboa
    · Andre Ward – Gennady Golovkin
    · Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. – Carl Froch
    · Guillermo Rigondeaux – Leo Santa Cruz

As for now, the boxing world just has to wait and see what 2015 has to offer.
