Hall of famer Marvin Hagler fought in an extremely competitive era of boxing. There are some that say the boxing ranks were much tougher in Hagler’s time, but there are others that take that notion a step further and completely diminish today’s competition.
Regardless of how you perceive things, it is an undeniable truth that Floyd “Money” Mayweather Jr. ranks at the top of the world today, he belongs in the discussion of all-time greats, and there is perhaps an argument that would suggest he is the best to ever do it.
Hagler would probably differ with the opinion that Floyd is the greatest of all-time, but even he can’t deny Mayweather Jr.’s prominence in this era of boxing.
In a video published on HustleBoss’s YouTube channel, Hagler was asked who impresses him today and the former champ offered up Mayweather as his resounding choice.
“You got to go Mayweather because there’s not that many fighters out there anymore,” Hagler told HustleBoss.com.
So whether the former champ believes Mayweather is the best right now because he is or whether he believes he’s the best by default due to the lack of competition is unclear.
But what would happen if Hagler and Mayweather Jr. met up with the difference of eras a non-factor, “You know what would happen,” Hagler responded laughingly when asked.
