mauricio-herrera-el-maestro-1555Mauricio Herrera is not completely sure who his next opponent will be, but is certain he will be fighting on the Bradley vs. Chaves undercard. Herrera will be another Golden Boy fighter being showcased on HBO. In a recent interview he discusses the fallout of the Ruslan Provodknov bout, and his possible next opponent.

Herrera weighed in on the Provodkinov situation and stated, “There were talks of Provodkinov in Russia. They initially made an offer to be on the Hopkins-Kovalev undercard, but Provodkinov’s team didn’t want HBO. They wanted more rights so they couldn’t come to an agreement. Then they tried to make a deal to fight in Russia, but the same thing happened. They didn’t want to give us a good enough deal so now they might be cancelling the whole event all together, but they also might bring it back.”

Herrera also discussed other possible opponents. “Golden Boy wasn’t negotiating the Provodkinov fight for me as much as they did for Jose Benavidez Jr. and Michael Perez. I think Jose Benavides is the guy I might fight next and I’m looking forward to it. It’s going to be a great fight. 140 is stacked with great fighters, and top prospects. Fighting big names would be better, but I’m also willing to fight known prospects. I’m also open to catch weights. I would be wiling to move to 147 to fight someone.”
