On Monday, Matchroom Sport will announce their latest signing who will join established stars such as Darren Barker, Kell Brook and Carl Froch. The new addition will make his debut for the promotional firm on the March 9th ‘London’s Finest’ bill and will be announced as the first fighter on the undercard of Carl Froch v Mikkel Kessler II.

ThaBoxingVoice caught up with Matchroom’s managing director Eddie Hearn to discuss newest member of the stable.

“I think it [the announcement] will shock the the world a little bit” said Hearn “I think he’s really, really going to strengthen the team; it’s a big name. It’s a world level guy.”

One name who has been strongly linked with the the promotional company is Lee Selby. The Welshman was last in action against Martin Lindsay on Matchroom’s ‘Unfinished Business’ card and is rumoured to be a promotional free agent, however Hearn was keen to stress that the British and Commonwealth king is not the latest signing but is someone who interests him.

“If Lee Selby is free agent then he definitely would be a target, the kid is world class”
